After Kolkata and the North-east, the city of Goa is high up on the fan graph of football in India, and it's only apt that it is one of the eight franchises of the Indian Super League.
Joining the bandwagon of cricketers as team owners, Virat Kohli became the joint owner of FC Goa to add to the star power of the club that will be coached by legendary Brazilian footballer Zico and has former Arsenal attacking midfielder Robert Pires as its marquee player.
Besides Kohli, Venugopal Dhoot, chairman of the Videocon Group; Dattaraj Salgaocar, owner and managing director of VM Salgaocar Group of Companies; and Shrinivas Dempo, chairman of the Dempo Group of Companies hold stake in club.
FC Goa will play their home matches at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa. Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has been roped in as the club's brand ambassador.
