Former Greece, US national coach Panagoulias dies
Alketas Panagoulias who coached Greece to World Cup finals in '94 and led the US team from 1983-85, died on Monday.

Athens, Greece: Greece's football federation says Alketas Panagoulias (78), who coached the national team at its first World Cup and European Championship, has died.

Greek media reports say Panagoulias died on Monday at his home in Vienna, Virginia.

Panagoulias coached Greece at the 1980 European Championship and 1994 World Cup, where the team was eliminated after conceding 10 goals and scoring none.

A former Aris Thessaloniki player, Panagoulias also led the United States national team from 1983-85 and the U.S. Olympic side.

Greek Football Association head Sofoklis Pilavios said on Tuesday that Greece's players will wear black armbands during the Euro 2012 quarter-final against Germany in Poland on Friday.

Pilavios says he has asked UEFA that a minute's silence be held before the match.
