West Bromwich: Saido Berahino struck after only two minutes Saturday to steer improving West Bromwich Albion to a 1-0 win over Southampton and extend their unbeaten run to five games.
The striker netted his 17th goal of the season when he latched on to the ball and fired a firm left-foot shot home from 15 meters.
West Brom have lost only once in 11 games this year under the guidance of new manager Tony Pulis, who relished his first triumph in four attempts to beat Southampton.
They wrecked Southampton's bid for a record fifth consecutive away win in the league and, after a bright start to the season, they have won only once in five league games and are slipping out of contention for a Champions League slot.
In another match, Peter Crouch scored the winner a minute after coming off the bench as Stoke defeated Hull 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.
Crouch made an instant impact at the Britannia Stadium after being thrown on with 20 minutes to go.
The striker rose in the box to meet a delivery from fellow substitute Charlie Adam and send a header over Allan McGregor into the net for his ninth goal of the season and fourth in four appearances in all competitions.
