Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong on loan until the end of the season.

Wolverhampton: Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong on loan until the end of the season.

The club confirmed the deal for the 19-year-old on their website on Saturday.

Frimpong has been at Arsenal since he was 11 and has made 14 appearances in the first team since making his debut at Newcastle in August. He could make his Wolves debut against Chelsea on Monday.

Meanwhile, there was a blow for Arsenal during their 1-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, with defender Thomas Vermaelen replaced by Francis Coquelin through injury.

"He had a calf strain so maybe at midnight I will try to find a leftback," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said, referring to the opening of the January transfer window. "It is serious enough not to play on Monday (at Fulham) or against Leeds (the following Monday)."

"We have three leftbacks out but Coquelin came out in this position and did quite well, but of course he is a central midfielder."
