Vidya Balan has once again showcased her love for traditional sarees. From Chanderi to Kanjivaram, Vidya’s wardrobe is full of stunning traditional attire. As Onam 2024 approaches, Vidya has already welcomed the festive spirit by celebrating early in a beautiful white and gold Kasavu saree. This saree is primarily worn during Onam festivities and perfectly captures the essence of tradition.
The Kasavu saree Vidya is wearing comes from the shelves of the clothing brand Pichakam. This handloom saree features exquisite meenakari peacock motifs delicately woven into the fabric. The unique ganga jamuna border adds a distinctive touch, while the festive gold zari lines running throughout the pallu enhance its elegance. The simplicity of the drape, coupled with its intricate detailing, makes it an ideal choice for Onam celebrations. To add a bit of colour, Vidya Balan paired the saree with a red blouse featuring puff sleeves.

For accessories, Vidya chose golden temple-style jhumkas and a large red bindi. Her makeup was subtle, featuring kohl-rimmed eyes, a matte base, and maroon-toned lipstick. She completed her look by elegantly styling her hair in a loose bun.
A Kasavu refers to the golden thread used to create the border of traditional Kerala sarees. These sarees are typically characterised by their elegant white fabric adorned with a rich golden border.
Vidya Balan also shared a second look from her pre-Onam celebrations on Instagram Stories. She looked radiant in a blush-pink silk saree. The saree, with its subtle sheen, exuded a festive vibe. She draped it in a traditional style, leaving the pallu open. To add a pop of contrast to her stunning ensemble, Vidya paired the saree with a black blouse. She completed the look with a messy braid, allowing a few strands to frame her face. Her makeup was equally stunning, featuring a striking red bindi and matching red lipstick that perfectly complemented her look.
Vidya’s fashion sense extends beyond traditional sarees to include bold prints and patterns. In this photo, Vidya is wearing a printed saree from designer Aishwarya Ravichandran. It features a dramatic tiger print on the pallu alongside florals and abstract designs. The saree’s brick red and jet-black colours, reminiscent of a tiger’s stripes, were created using biodegradable dyes on sustainable muslin fabric.

Vidya kept her look simple, opting for a single pair of statement earrings to let the saree’s print take centre stage.
