Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Niece Sharmin Segal’s Bridal Lehenga Featured An Opulent 12 Foot Long Train
Actor Sharmin Segal made a gorgeous bride on November 24th, when she adorned a timeless lehenga designed by celebrated fashion designer duo Rimple and Harpreet Narula.

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s niece, actor Sharmin Segal looked ethereal as a modern-day bride. Exuding grace and elegance in a timeless yet contemporary lehenga, Sharmin made her wedding bridal look an extension of her charming personality.

Sharmin, who tied the knot with business tycoon Aman Mehta of Torrent Pharmaceutical on November 24th in Ahmedabad, celebrated the intimate wedding ceremony among close family and friends. While the star is yet to post her wedding pictures on social media, News18 received images of Sharmin, who looked like a ‘Bride-chilla’ in the regal lehenga.

The ecru and rose-gold timeless ensemble was designed by celebrated fashion designer duo Rimple and Harpreet Narula, who have previously worked on the costumes of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Padmaavat, Sharmin back in the day had also worked on the sets of film Padmaavat, as an assistant director and during the long schedule created a special bond with Rimple. So, when it was time to create her dream wedding look, Sharmin rang up her dear friend and the rest is history.

Sharmin’s wedding ensemble comprised a delicate skirt with bejewelled peacock and floral vine motifs, inspired from the vintage 18th-century French lace fragments sourced from Rimple and Harpreet Narula’s personal archives. A mesmerising display of creativity, each motif was embroidered first followed by the intricate cutwork to create a magical illusion of jaali-like lace.

The beauty of this statement piece was the intricate craftsmanship including the signature cutwork on the opulent skirt. Embroidered with zardozi and marodi, each embroidered panel was further layered with dabka, naqshi, sequins, pearls, crystals and semi-precious stones. Following the pastel palette, Sharmin paired the exquisite lehenga with an embroidered choli and draped a sheer tulle dupatta featuring a scalloped cutwork border.

The highlight of this royal look was enhanced with a 12-foot-long train, which added the finishing touch to the graceful sequin-encrusted diaphanous tulle veil. Sharmin’s bridal look also featured a maang tika, a choker and a layered necklace that added to her wedding look.

Speaking about designing the opulent bridal look for Sharmin, the designer duo Rimple and Harpreet Narula, said, “Sharmin is a beautiful girl and we are delighted to custom make her dream wedding outfit that perfectly blends with her style requirements which revolve around comfort, ease and her deep-rooted love for Indian heritage crafts. We wish her the best and are also super excited to see her adorn our creations in Heeramandi.”

Sharmin Segal will soon be seen in the forthcoming magnum-opus historical-drama series Heeramandi, directed by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Sharmin’s costumes in the Netflix series are designed by the designer duo Rimple and Harpreet Narula.
