Kartik Aaryan Reacts to Controversies Around Him, Says ‘I Don’t Enjoy My Name Being…’ | Exclusive
Kartik Aaryan reveals his candidness and fun nature didn't serve him well. He adds that he doesn't not know how long his box office standing will last.

It’s very rare that actors don’t get clawed by controversies because with stardom comes scrutiny. Kartik Aaryan got embroiled in a controversy for the first time when speculations about creative conflicts on the sets of Dostana 2 between Karan Johar and the actor surfaced. Soon after, Dharma Productions stated that they would be recasting the film citing ‘professional circumstances’. Kartik’s alleged romantic relationships with co-stars and the intense scrutiny surrounding them also made him a grapevine favourite.

Once known for his candour, during the promotion of Chandu Champion, he revealed how he has learnt to stay ‘silent’ as it’s the only way to brave most situations, be it good or bad. Now in an exclusive interaction with News18 Showsha, Kartik says that he has learnt to filter his thoughts the hard way. “I’ve become very serious now. I think a lot before speaking. But people scrutinise that too. They say, yeh itna soch samajh ke kyun bol raha hai?” he tells us.

In a career spanning 13 years, Kartik has seen the positive and the flip side of show business and though he has always tried to steer clear from controversies, he feels the need to do them now more than ever. “I don’t like being associated with controversies or talking about them. And that’s not something new. That has been my mindset ever since I began my journey as an actor. I don’t enjoy my name being a part of any kind of controversy. That’s why I remain silent irrespective of the situation,” he confesses.

So, what has nudged the change? “I concentrate on my work and let that speak for me. And that’s the most important thing in my life. As for naap tol ke baat karna, what happens sometimes is, that I say things out of fun and that becomes a headline. Initially, I would end up saying a lot of things casually. Main kuch bhi bole deta tha. Then people started pointing that out. It’s a part of my nature. I’ve now consciously toned myself down a little bit,” remarks Kartik.

Even on the professional front, the 33-year-old has noticed a shift in himself and that began with the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. He has now understood how much his box office standing helps determine the destiny of a film and so, he isn’t willing to make any compromise. For him, the focus is on ‘choosing to work on film sets where everyone is passionate, right from the script level – which is the bible of a film – till the last stage of promotions and release’.

“Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 might have helped a lot of filmmakers put their belief in me. That success brought in a certain box office number. And that in turn helped a lot of makers get their projects up and running and initiated many collaborations. If I feel like I can bring in some returns, that’s great. But I don’t know for how long this will last,” explains Kartik, who’s currently shooting for the third instalment of the horror-comedy franchise.
