Patna Women’s College has introduced a four-year Bachelor’s degree program in fashion design, becoming the first women’s college in Patna to offer this course. Affiliated with Patna University, the program aims to provide students in Bihar with the opportunity to pursue a career in fashion design. Divided into eight semesters, the course will cover various aspects of fashion design, including textile designing, stitching, jewellery designing, and visual merchandising. The college already offers a one-year PG Diploma course in Fashion Designing.

Admissions to the program will be conducted through a written examination, and candidates will be selected based on merit. Eligible candidates must have passed Class 12 from a recognised state or central board of education and demonstrate an understanding and interest in creativity and design. The curriculum encompasses subjects such as Textile Designing, Visual Merchandising, Bag designing, Accessories Designing, Stitching, and other relevant design-related topics.

Patna Women’s College, as mentioned on its website, actively organises fashion displays and participates in the Mahila Udyog Mela annually, providing students with exposure and nurturing their fashion design skills. The college also arranges industrial visits to garment manufacturing units, export houses, and design institutes in India. Additionally, students engage in periodic visits to traditional craft centres in India and participate in art and craft competitions as part of the Fashion Designing course. Throughout the Fashion Designing course, students study jewellery designing, garment designing, footwear designing, leather designing, and more.
