Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has slashed the rumours about the reduction of passing marks as well as the syllabus for the SSC (Class10) and HSC (Class12) exams. Ahead of the upcoming board exams, there were several reports stating the reduction of minimum passing marks from 35% to 25% doing rounds on social media. Some other reports suggested that the students will be allowed to write their exam from their schools. However, in an official statement, MSBSHSE has cleared the rumours and asked the parents and students not to believe social media reports.
As reported by TOI, the Board stated that they dismiss all the unverified reports pertaining to the structure and conduct of exams that are doing the rounds in the media and on social media. They said, “We appeal to the stakeholders not to believe in these rumours and rest assured that the board will issue official statements from time to time”. The board further added that the expert committee that is planning the conduct of exams in the state has given its recommendations and a set of guidelines will be released in the next two days.
Meanwhile, the school education minister, Varsha Gaikwad consulted the stakeholders to seek suggestions to safely conduct the examination. She even started a campaign called ‘We can do it’ for the same. Through a tweet, she informed the same and invited suggestions that will ensure safe exams and prevent learning loss. She asked the netizens to submit their suggestion to [email protected].

Around 17 lakh students took the SSC exams and 15 lakh took HSC exams every year across the state. The Board has already released the revised timetable on its official website https://www.mahahsscboard.in/index.htm. The Maharashtra HSC examinations is scheduled to conduct from April 23 to May 21 while the SSC exam would begin on April 29 and will conclude on May 20. The practical and oral examinations for HSC and SSC will be held from April 5 and 12 respectively.
