The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) CSE results 2023 was declared in April this year. The inspirational stories of many toppers grabbed the attention of the nation like. A few candidates like Aditya Srivastava, Animesh Pradhan, Donuru Ananya Reddy, PK Siddharth Ramkumar and Ruhani who secured the first five positions respectively have now been allotted their services. This means the candidates who had opted for Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Foreign Service (IFS) have been allotted to their respective cadres.
Recently, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) released a complete list of the services that have been allotted to the selected candidates. As per the list, barring two candidates among the 50 toppers, 48 candidates chose the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and they have been allotted service in that cadre.
The candidates who did not choose IAS are Vardah Khan who secured the 18th rank in UPSC 2023 and Vishnu Kumar ranked 31, who gave preference to the Indian Foreign Service (IFS). Apart from them, 52nd and 62nd rank holders- Jayashree Pradhan and Atul Tyagi respectively rejected IAS and opted for IFS as well.
This year, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has allotted services to about 883 candidates. Any candidate from the general category till the 77th rank who has preferred IAS service has been allotted the same cadre. Candidate Ishani Anand from the general category who secured the 79th rank has been allotted the IPS service.
The result of UPSC CSE 2023 was released on April 16. UPSC recommended the appointment of 1,016 candidates for a vacancy of 1,143 in various services like IAS, IFS and IPS. 347 candidates this year were from the general category, while 115 were from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS). About 303 candidates belonged to Other Backward Classes (OBC), 165 from Schedule Caste (SC) and 86 from Scheduled Tribe (ST).
It is fascinating to see that the youth of the country are already clear about what they want to pursue and now the UPSC candidates have been enrolled on their respective services
