Appearing for Rajasthan Staff Selection Exam? Your Full-Sleeve Shirts Are Safe Now

Candidates appearing for Rajasthan Staff Selection Board exams no longer need to worry about the full sleeves of their shirts being cut into half.

Candidates applying to government jobs in Rajasthan often worry about whether they should wear full-sleeve shirts to the examination centre, as staff conducting the exams had previously cut the sleeves of candidates’ shirts with scissors during the checking process, leaving them embarrassed.

After several controversies, the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board has made a significant decision that the sleeves of candidates’ clothing will no longer be cut.

Chairman of Rajasthan Staff Selection Board Alok Raj announced the decision on X (formerly Twitter). A notification regarding the same will be issued soon.

The decision was taken following protests from candidates. Under the new rule, candidates wearing plain full-sleeve shirts with normal buttons will be permitted to sit for examinations.

As per the rule, candidates must remove all items such as jewellery, watches, sandals, socks, sunglasses, belts, handbags, hairpins, amulets, caps, scarves, stoles, shawls, mufflers, and sacred threads before entering the exam hall. In the CET exam, candidates had previously complained to the Collector’s office about the removal of sacred threads as well.

According to the reports, the changes have now been implemented for all staff selection exams. However, to prevent cheating, male candidates wearing decorative buttons, brooches or badges on their shirts will still not be allowed to sit for the exam. Female candidates can wear salwar suits, kurtas, and slippers. Women may wear rubber bands or simple hairpins but any jewellery other than lac or glass bangles is prohibited.
