'Yashasvi Jaiswal a Problem for England': Michael Vaughan Warns Ben Stokes and Co Ahead of 3rd Test
Michael Vaughan believes that Yashasvi Jaiswal is a big threat following his maiden double century at Vizag.

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan believes that India’s 22-year-old opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal is a problem for England ahead of the last three matches of the five-Test series.

The young India opener has been phenomenal in the ongoing series, especially in the second Test where he managed to work on his shortcomings from the previous fixture and went on to register his maiden double-century in Tests. He managed to score 209 in 290 deliveries in the first innings at Visakhapatnam.

Speaking regarding the ongoing Test series on the YouTube channel, ‘Club Prairie Fire’, Vaughan said,” I would say he is a problem for England. He is an issue. He is an unbelievable player.”

The Englishman also looked back at an instance where he met Jaiswal. He recalled, “I met him in Mumbai and he got a hundred the next day in the IPL.”

Looking at the present, Vaughan was impressed with Jaiswal’s display in the red-ball game against a formidable English side led by Ben Stokes. He added, “Now he has gone on to score a double-hundred against the best team in the world.”

It did not take the young batter long to get accustomed to the demands of the international format. He made his debut in the first Test against West Indies during the Caribbean tour in 2023 and scored 171 to make a statement. Similarly, he managed to score 84 runs in just his second T20I as well.

Most of the Indian batters, barring Jaiswal have struggled to put in consistent performances in the first two Tests against England. The left-hander has managed to score a double-hundred and a fifty so far to take the spot as the leading run-scorer in the series with a tally of 321 runs.

England will be wary of the threat that the youngster poses. The touring side will look to improve on their plans against the opener if they are to secure the win in the third Test which takes place at Rajkot.

India on the other hand will be hoping to see Jaiswal perform as he has with the hosts looking to maintain their streak of being undefeated in a home Test series since 2012.
