Watch: Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni's Wholesome Moment During CSK Vs RCB Sends Fans Into Frenzy
MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli were reunited on the field when Chennai Super Kings took on Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2024 opener.

Chennai Super Kings kicked off their title defence in IPL 2024 with a brilliant six-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore. The match took place at the fortress of the defending champions – the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. CSK continued to show that they are an impenetrable unit in their own den as RCB struggled against the five-time champions on Friday night.

Before the start of the match though, a moment involving Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni went viral. The camaraderie between Kohli and Dhoni was evident during the season opener at the Chepauk.

Before the start of the RCB innings, the duo exchanged pleasantries with a clip of the duo smiling afterwards being lapped up by fans.

Kohli approached Dhoni and placed his hand over the CSK wicketkeeper’s shoulder with the two having a brief chat.

After the contest ended, while the teams were shaking hands, Kohli and Dhoni gave their fans another memorable moment.

With eight fours in just 23 balls, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis got the team off to a blazing start. The former South Africa international had the CSK fast bowlers searching for answers as he hammered 35 runs off 23 balls. Du Plessis kept most of the strike and looked in great nick as Kohli watched in awe from the other end.

That was until CSK introduced the trump card in Bangladesh quick Mustafizur Rahman, who struck twice in the fifth over. He dismissed Du Plessis first and then Rajat Patidar for a duck which allowed CSK to hit back.

In the last over of the powerplay, Deepak Chahar dismissed Glenn Maxwell for a golden duck, leaving RCB in trouble.

With the team losing three wickets in a jiffy, Kohli had to drop anchor and rebuild the innings. But things turned from bad to worse for RCB as Kohli, in an attempt to switch gears, holed to deep mid-wicket. He scored 21 runs off 20 balls.

Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik gave RCB a great finish, raising a 95-run stand for the sixth wicket. Of those 95 runs, 83 came in the last six overs as RCB ended their innings with a fighting 173-run total on the board.

CSK got off to a solid start courtesy of new acquisition Rachin Ravindra, who scored 37 off 15. While captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed for a run-a-ball 15, Ajinkya Rahane (27) and Daryl Mitchell (22) came up with useful contributions.

Shivam Dube (34* off 28) and Ravindra Jadeja (25* off 17) took CSK over the finishing line with an unbeaten 66-run partnership for the fifth wicket to seal the victory.
