Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli were among other top Team India stars who marked the T20 World Cup trophy’s homecoming by cutting a cake at a luxury five-star hotel in New Delhi on Thursday.
The celebration followed after they arrived from Barbados on early morning via a special flight.
The humongous three-tier truffle cake a mini T20 World Cup trophy on top. It showcased the Indian tricolour with a theme of saffron, white and green.

India head coach Rahul Dravid and allrounder Hardik Pandya also joined the celebration by cutting the cake.

The executive chef at ITC Maurya, Shivneet Maurya designed the special cake.
“The cake is in the colour of the Team’s jersey. Its highlight is this trophy, it may look like an actual trophy but this is made out of chocolate…This is our welcome to the winning team…We have arranged the breakfast at the special venue,” Shivneet said.
Upon their arrival, Team India were greeted with a massive gathering of fans at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Despite the city experiencing some showers early today, the crowd remained enthusiastic as they waved the national flag and held placards in the team’s support.

The Rohit Sharma-led side’s return to India was aided by a specially chartered flight by Air India.
The flight was designated as ‘Air India Champions 24 World Cup’ (AIC24C) that had departed from Bridgetown, Barbados on July 3. The direct flight to Delhi lasted nearly 16 hours as it brought back the players, support staff, families, board officials and members of the media.

Rohit and company emerged triumphant at the T20 World Cup 2024, beating South Africa on Saturday (June 29).
Their return home was delayed due to Hurricane Beryl which caused the Barbados airport to shut down operations. The Men in Blue also visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence today. They arrived at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg before posing for a group photo with the PM.
The Indian cricket team is also set to attend a BCCI facilitation function at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai which will be followed by an open bus trophy tour.
