WATCH: Mohd Hafeez Accuses PCB of 'Doing Deals' With Amir and Imad Wasim to Return Ahead of T20 World Cup 2024

The former Pakistan team director and international all-rounder Mohammed Hafeez had made some scathing accusations about the side’s veteran duo Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim who made their return to the side after reversing their retirements.

The two had announced their decision to come back to international cricket ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 and the two were promptly selected to the national side’s squad for the tournament as well

But Hafeez believes that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have brought back the experienced pair out of pure greed and suggested that there might be deals in place which motivated the duo to make a comeback.

Hafeez said, “They have been brought back due to greed, they have done a deal to get them back. They have brought back people who have ruined Pakistan cricket”.

The former Pakistan team director questioned the board for picking the duo in their side despite not playing domestic cricket like most of the other hopefuls who aim to make it to the national side.

He suggested that the pair might be taking the ongoing World Cup as just another franchise cricket league implying it could be another motivation to get more money.

“How can it be that players who don’t even play Pakistan’s domestic cricket get selected? When asked to play for Pakistan six months ago, they said they wanted to play in leagues. Since no leagues are happening now, they are playing in the World Cup. They are playing in the World Cup as if it is just another league,” he concluded.

The Pakistan Cricket team have been under fire after their shocking loss against rivals India in New York on Sunday. The side were able to restrict their neighbours for just 120 runs and failed to chase it down which meant their chances to make it to the Super 8s have taken a massive hit.

Pakistan will be hoping that they can win their final two group-stage games by a massive margin and hope the other outcomes go in their favour to make it to the next stage of the tournament.
