It was the moment of the match for an otherwise hapless Delhi Capitals as Kolkata Knight Riders hammered them for the second-highest total in IPL history on Wednesday night in Vizag. The architect of the moment the seasoned Ishant Sharma delivered quite a contrasting final over of KKR innings after they came close to breaking the all-time record of highest team total but finished with the second-best score – 272/7.
After KKR racked up 264/5 in 19 overs with a red-hot Andre Russell batting on 41 off 18, DC captain Rishabh Pant turned to Ishant to try and limit the already extensive damage.
Ishant responded with a 144 kph yorker to Russell who was floored while dealing with the stunning delivery as the ball crashed onto the stumps. While Ishant casually turned back to his bowling mark, Russell acknowledged his opponent and applauded him before heading back to the KKR dug-out.

Ishant, who was taken for 35 runs in his first two overs, conceded just eight runs in the 20th over of KKR innings and more importantly, took two wickets including that of Russell and Ramandeep Singh.
KKR captain Shreyas Iyer opted to bat on what he predicted will be a belter for batting. And he was proven right with opener Sunil Narine blazing away in the Powerplay and blasting 39-ball 85 with the help of seven fours and as many sixes.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi matches his senior teammate shot for shot and peeled off a blistering half-century of his own. He scored 54 off 27, an innings featuring five fours and three sixes.
Russell and Rinku Singh provided the power in the slog overs. Russell was his usual brutal, hitting 41 off 19 while Rinku’s brief stay saw him clobber three sixes and a four in an entertaining 8-ball 26.
KKR are now second on the list of the highest team totals in IPL history after Sunrisers Hyderabad who scored 277/3 against Mumbai Indians last week.
