Watch: Babar Azam Wraps Himself in Towel For Prayers After Failing to Locate Trousers
Babar Azam was frantically looking for his trousers as he rushed to join his teammates for prayers and a clip of it is going viral on social media.

Anything Babar Azam does these days, it goes viral on social media. The Pakistan batting star is going through a lean patch for some time now and has been criticised for his poor show in the recently concluded Test series against Bangladesh. Being one of the most experienced batters in the squad, Babar was expected to be the star performer but he managed only 64 runs across four innings.

Now, Babar will be keen to make a strong statement in the next Test series against England and clips of him batting in training sessions have been doing the rounds on social media.

The 29-year-old though has now gone viral for an off-field topic. The incident unfolded during a recent practice session.

Babar was training in shorts when he saw the other members of the squad lining up on the sidelines to offer prayers. He was in a hurry to join his teammates and apparently, was desperately looking for his trousers.

When he failed to find it, Babar decided to use a towel as an alternative.

He wrapped it around his waist and joined the other Pakistani players for the prayer.

A number of fans were present at the ground to watch the practice session and Babar’s predicament caught their attention. The crowd went on to cheer for him after the team finished their prayer.

A video featuring the moment soon went viral.

Babar was removed as Pakistan captain from Tests and T20Is after the team’s poor show in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Shaheen Shah Afridi replaced him at the helm in T20I but the fast bowler was sacked just after one series in charge.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reassigned the T20I captaincy to Babar with Shan Masood continuing as the Test skipper.

Despite Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup and the Test series loss against Bangladesh, the PCB has reportedly kept their faith in Babar and Masood.

A source recently told PTI, “There has been no discussion on changing the captains as the PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has left it up to the two coaches and selectors to decide on the captaincy. Kirsten and Gillespie are very clear that Shan and Babar both need to be given a proper run before judging their leadership abilities.”

Pakistan will next play three Tests against England and the first match is slated to begin on October 7 at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
