Rohit Sharma, who led the Mumbai Indians to five Indian Premier League (IPL) titles during his stint as captain between 2013 and 2023, recently appeared on a podcast, co-hosted by former Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist and ex-England captain Michael Vaughan.
Rohit talked about various topics, including the upcoming T20 World Cup, his journey with the Mumbai Indians and a potential Test match between India and Pakistan.

One particular exchange that stood out was Adam Gilchrist asking the Team India skipper about the songs of all the franchises right now compared to when IPL was still in its infancy.
“Ro, one last thing about those halcyon days, the early days of the IPL. Have you, in the 16 editions since the first one, heard a better team song than we had at the Deccan Chargers? Without a doubt, that was the best song ever for an IPL team. Do you remember it?", asked Adam Gilchrist.
“Yeah, I remember a little bit because I have been hearing all of these teams now singing songs. It’s shown on television, let alone social media, but it’s being shown on television. But no, I genuinely don’t feel that any other teams doing the songs now are even close to what we used to do," replied Rohit Sharma.
Later in the episode, Gilchrist played the famous Deccan Chargers anthem from 2008. Rohit and Gilchrist were part of the Deccan Chargers from 2008, the inaugural edition, to 2010. Gilchrist took over the reins as captain from VVS Laxman and guided the side to the IPL title in 2009. Defending a 144-run target against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2009 final, the Chargers had secured a terrific six-run win to lift the trophy.
In 2011, Gilchrist was roped in by the Punjab Kings (then known as Kings XI Punjab). He played his final IPL season in 2013. Rohit, too, joined a new franchise in 2011, as he was signed by the Mumbai Indians. The 36-year-old has been with the franchise ever since, guiding them to some memorable triumphs over the years.
Rohit Sharma scored his second IPL century during a match against Chennai Super Kings. Playing against the defending champions in IPL 2024, Rohit produced a magnificent knock of unbeaten 105.
