Tumbling Records: SRH Smash Yet More Record En Route to Mammoth Win Over DC
SRH shattered multiple records thanks to a blinder of an opening partnership between Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma including the highest score in powerplay overs, the quickest to triple digit score and the fastest to the 150 run mark.

Sumrisers Hyderabad climbed to second in the IPL 2024 table with a 67-run win over Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday. SRH put up 266 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs before bundling out DC for 199 runs in 19.1 overs.

Most Number of 250 plus scores in IPL:

SRH breached the 250-run mark for the third time, making it an IPL record bettering RCB’s tally of surpassing the number twice, and shattered more records thanks to a blinder of an opening partnership between Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. The pair smashed an absurd 125 runs in the first 6 overs, making it the highest powerplay score in the history of T20 cricket.

Joint most number of sixers:

SRH matched the record for the most number of sixers in the IPL with their 22 maximums at the Arun Jaitley, drawing parity with their own feat against RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium earlier in the tournament.

Fastest to triple digits:

They also became the fastest to bring up 100 runs as the duo reached the triple-digit mark in just 5 overs. The opening pair also registered a run rate of 20.68, which is by far the highest for any century stand in the history of IPL.

Fastest to 150:

Riding on the opening blitzkrieg, SRH went on to reach 150 runs in just 8.2 overs, the quickest in the history of T20 cricket.

Highest total after 10 overs:

At the end of 10 overs, SRH were at 158 for the loss of four wickets, the highest of any team at the halfway mark of an innings in the Indian Premier League.

Combined records-

Highest combined score in powerplay overs:

Delhi Capitals, who tried their best to chase down the mammoth score, started off well and made 88 runs in the first 6 overs. This added to the 125 made by SRH in their powerplay overs, making it the highest combined score in powerplay overs across the world as both teams managed a combined total of 218 runs.

The fixture also witnessed a combined total of 71 boundaries, which makes it the second most in a game behind only SRH’s onslaught against RCB, which saw 81 boundaries being smashed.
