The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is around the corner and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni has already begun his preparations for the upcoming season. A few days ago, one of his pictures went viral on social media in which he was seen all padded up and sweating it out in the nets. But more than his practice, the new sticker on his bat became the point of discussion.

The label on Dhoni’s willow read ‘Prime Sports’ which is the name of a shop in Ranchi run by his childhood friend Paramjit Singh. He’s the same guy who had convinced the sponsors to take care of Dhoni’s cricketing gears in the early stage of his career, as shown in the film – ‘MS Dhoni – The Untold Story’.
Putting the ‘Prime Sports’ label on his bat was Dhoni’s gesture to his friend Paramjit Singh who was filled with joy after knowing about it. Speaking with Aaj Tak, Singh also revealed that the CSK skipper gifted him an autographed bat, which carried the message, “Best wishes, Chhotu Bhaiya.”
“I am feeling very proud of him. He has always been there for us. And this is our friendship. Friendship No. 1,” he told Aaj Tak.

It wasn’t the first time when Dhoni expressed gratitude towards people or organizations that stood by his side during his career. He last played for the country in the 2019 World Cup in England where he sported the stickers of SS and BAS, the first two biggest bat sponsors in his career.

Noticed by Adam Gilchrist
Earlier, former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist also noticed the new sticker on Dhoni’s bat and responded to the story behind it. Calling the second T20I between Australia and West Indies alongside Mike Hussey, Gilchrist said, “I saw him hitting some balls in the nets, MS Dhoni. There’s a new bat sticker on his bat. Just a local sports store of one of his schoolmates. Whack the company name on your bat just to give a boost to sales.”
