On a placid pitch, Tavis Head (82 off 39 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (46 off 12 balls) left everyone in the stands breathless and speechless with their flurry of impeccable strokeplay and establishing multiple records for fun to help SRH make 125-0 in power-play, thus setting a new record for the highest power-play score in T20 cricket, including in the IPL.

The previous highest power-play score in IPL was 105 for no loss by Kolkata Knight Riders against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2017.

Head and Abhishek both sent each and every bowler on a leather-hunt as the duo shared a 131-run partnership at the top of the order in just 6.2 overs.

“I think we were targeting more than that after the first 6 overs but really happy with the team. There was a message to assess the wicket today and I think Travis did really well in that today. It’s always a pleasure since day one, I’ve been telling him that I’ve been a big fan of him from day one. We’re lucky he’s in our team. There’s no pressure from the other end so I can just go out and express myself,” Abhishek Sharma said at the mid-innings break.

Shahbaz Ahmed then scored an unbeaten 59 (29 balls) to give SRH another massive total to defend.

Delhi Capitals spinner Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets for 55 runs, while Axar Patel (1/29) and Mukesh Kumar (1/57) were the other wicket-takers.
