The opener will rejoin with Strikers coach Luke Williams, who also previously coached the Indian at Royal Challengers Bengaluru during their successful title-winning season earlier this year.

Defending champions Adelaide Strikers have announced Indian star opener and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana as their new signing ahead of the upcoming 10th edition of the Women’s Big Bash League.

Mandhana, who will be playing for her fourth WBBL team now, was acquired as a pre-draft signing by the two-time WBBL champions. She previously represented Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

“I always look forward to playing in Australia, and I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute to a team with a history of success like the Strikers, Mandhana said.

“I’m thrilled to continue working with Luke. Our previous experiences together have been so rewarding, and I’m looking forward to building on that.”

A highly decorated player in all formats, Mandhana’s, holds two coveted ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year awards, only the second player to achieve this alongside Australia’s Ellyse Perry.

The opener will rejoin with Strikers coach Luke Williams, who also previously coached the Indian at Royal Challengers Bengaluru during their successful title-winning season earlier this year.

In addition to the WPL, Mandhana and Strikers coach Luke Williams have worked together previously at Southern Brave for The Hundred.

“Smriti is an exceptional talent, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the Strikers. Her technical skill, experience and strategic insights are a tremendous asset for us.”

“I know firsthand the dedication and energy she brings to the team and on the field. Her expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we drive for success in the upcoming season.”

Mandhana will be expected to add more firepower to the two-time defending champions Strikers, who won their maiden title in the eighth season of the tournament after defeating Sydney Sixers by 10 runs in the final, and successfully defended their title last season by beating Brisbane Heat in the summit clash by three runs.

The WBBL Draft will be held on Sunday, 1 September, and the Adelaide Strikers will host the Brisbane Heat at Adelaide Oval for the first match of the WBBL 10 season on October 27.
