With the Indian Test team currently enjoying some much-needed downtime following their stellar 2-0 series sweep over Bangladesh at home, the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma continues to find his way around as he was seen with Mumbai’s star prospect, Musheer Khan.
The Indian skipper was photographed with both Musheer and his father Naushad Khan. The photo was then posted by Sarfaraz Khan’s official Instagram handle via Stories.
Musheer who has been a regular in the domestic circuit representing Mumbai, suffered a fracture due to a road accident he was involved in along with his father as the two were making their way to Lucknow for the Irani Cup 2024 fixture.
The 19-year-old has been in stellar batting form where he had an impressive knock in the recently concluded Duleep Trophy 2024. Representing the India B side led by Abhimanyu Easwaran, the teenager went on to score a fantastic 181 against India A. In addition, he has many knocks for Mumbai and also was a standout in the most recent edition of India’s U19 World Cup campaign.
As a result of his injury, the youngster has not been picked in Mumbai’s 16-man squad for the first two rounds of the 2024-25 season of India’s premier domestic tournament, Ranji Trophy.
Mumbai, the defending champions, have been placed in Elite Group A where they also have the likes of Baroda, Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir, Services, Odisha, Meghalaya and Maharashtra.
The title-holders will begin their Ranji Trophy season with an away game against Baroda at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Friday. This would be followed by a home game against Maharashtra on October 18 at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy.
While Musheer has not suffered any career-threatening injuries, Mumbai would hope that their starlet can make a swift recovery and get back to his best batting form as soon as possible.
Rohit on the other hand will be looking forward to India’s upcoming Test series against New Zealand which is set to begin on October 16. The three-match affair will be a crucial one as both sides will look to take as many wins as possible to seal their spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final for the 2025-26 season.
