Star Indian seamer Renuka Singh Thakur drew first blood for the Indian women’s team in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 group stage fixture against arch-rivals Pakistan as she removed Pakistan opener Gull Feroza in the first over of the game for a duck.
The 28-year-old Indian pacer castled the Pakistani opener in the final delivery of the opening over of the game after Pakistan had won the toss and opted to have a bat first.

The Indian seamer looked sharp in the opening over of the game as she just conceded a solitary run as Muneeba Ali rotated strike to Feroza with a single in the first over before Thakur troubled the Pakistani batter for three consecutive deliveries before rattling the timber on Feroza’s fourth ball on strike.
Deepti Sharma added to the wickets tally with the scalp of Sidra Ameen for 8 runs off 11 deliveries, before Arundathi Reddy dismissed Omaima Sohail for 3 runs off 6 balls.
Team India succumbed to a shocking 58-run defeat to the New Zealand women’s side in their ICCWT20WC opener on Friday as the women in blue were bundled out for a total of 102 by the Kiwi women, who had set a target of 161 runs for the Indians to win their opening game.
Sophie Devine was the star with the bat for the Kiwis with her unbeaten 57-run knock, while Rosemary Mair made the ball talk in her four-wicket haul against the Indian women on the day.
