'Quality Spinners and Electric Batting, That's Why I'm Going With...': Nathan Lyon Shares His Prediction For 2024 T20 World Cup Final

The time is almost here for international T20 action to ensue once again as the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, set to happen in the USA and the Caribbean, is right around the corner.

With the marquee tournament nearing, fans, pundits and players alike have been marking out their predictions on who will achieve the ultimate glory this time around.

Legendary Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon has also thrown his hat in the mix and voiced out his predictions on which teams shall face off in the final battle for international cricketing glory this time.

“For the T20 final teams, I’m going with Australia obviously because I’m quite biased towards them,” stated a sheepish Lyon.

But when contemplating over who their opponent would be, Lyon did not opt for the expected big names such as India, but went for yet another team that he believes will be a threat.

I think it will be…I’m going to go with Pakistan. In those conditions, quality spin bowlers but also electric batters like Babar Azam, will help,” added Lyon.

The Aussie spinner is of the belief that Pakistan’s balanced squad powered by the addition of superstar batter Babar Azam will in fact bolster them and ensure a finals appearance for the Men in Green this time around.

Pakistan, who were semi-finalists last time around in 2022, will be looking to come off a hopeful tied T20I series against England by the beginning of their T20 World Cup campaign. But, they currently trail the 4-match series 1-0 to England, after two matched were washed out and with both teams set to take on each other for one last time tonight.

Australia on the other hand will most definitely be looked up to as a massive threat, and will be coming in with a chip on their shoulder from the previous T20 World Cup campaign, where they missed out on making it to the semi-finals.

The Aussies will also be coming into the tournament with the undeniable success too, following their World Test Championship win last year and their sensational 2023 ODI World Cup title win, as skipper Pat Cummins will be raring to go and establish dominance across all formats for the Aussies.
