India’s lead bowler across all three formats, Jasprit Bumrah was asked who he thought was the toughest batter he bowled against. To match the fast bowler’s class with the ball, he gave a fitting response to the question.
In a video that went viral on social media, Bumrah did not want to give out any names. But he had a very good reason for it. The pacer was present as a guest at the Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai during the college’s fresher’s day event.
He said, “Look I want to give a good answer, but the real factor is that I don’t want anyone to take over me in my head. I respect everyone but, in my head, I tell myself that if I do my job well, there’s nobody in the world who can stop me”.

This clearly shows the elite mindset through which Bumrah can deliver outstanding performances with the ball consistently across all three formats of the game. He remains focused on himself and what he can control rather than what is happening on the outside.

“So I look at myself rather than the opponent I think that I have control over everything and if I give myself the best opportunity, everything else will take care of itself rather than giving the power to the batsman that he’ll get better of me or he’s better than me,” he added.
What is Jasprit Bumrah up to now?
Currently, the Indian pacer has had some time off since his stellar performance in the T20 World Cup 2024. He missed India’s white-ball tour of Sri Lanka and it is yet to be seen whether he would be part of India’s home series against Bangladesh as well.
The Indian Cricket Board will be hoping that their lead bowler will not pick up any injuries this year as they expect him to be at his best for the headline event for the year, India’s tour to Australia to defend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in November, later this year.

To prepare for the tour Down Under, India will also be taking on New Zealand at home in a three-match Test series after the games against Bangladesh. The games against the Kiwis could be used on a preparatory basis to get him up to his best as he will play a crucial role against the Australian batters.
