Chennai Super Kings will miss their overseas pacer Mustafizur Rahman for their game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday, as he has reportedly flown back home to process his US visa ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup, slated to begin on June 2.
“Mustafizur arrived last night from the IPL for US visa purposes for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He will be giving his fingerprint at the US embassy tomorrow (April 4) and later will travel back to India to join Chennai,” BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus said as quoted by Cricbuzz on Wednesday.
In the three games the left-arm pacer has played in IPL 2024 so far, he has picked seven wickets and leads the race for IPL 2024 Purple Cap. After claiming 4/29 in the opening game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he registered figures of 2/30 vs Gujarat Titans and 1/47 against Delhi Capitals.

Rahman is likely to be back either on Sunday or Monday. If he returns on Monday, he will most likely miss CSK’s game against Kolkata Knight Riders on the same day. The 28-year-old is available till the end of April before he joins the national team for Bangladesh’s five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, starting May 3.
Who Can Replace Mustafizur Rahman in CSK Playing XI
In the absence of Rahman, CSK may have to rejig their playing XI and could add Shardul Thakur or Rajavardhan Hangargekar as the pace option. CSK could also go with an extra spin option in Maheesh Theekshana.
