Former Indian player and coach, Ravi Shastri picked out the Gabba Test as the most notable moment in his illustrious career as he received the Lifetime Achievement Award by the BCCI.

Ravi Shastri was honoured by the BCCI with the Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award during the Naman Awards that took place in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The former Indian cricketer, World Cup winner and coach was bestowed upon this honour along with the former Indian cricketer Farokh Engineer as well.

As he received the award he was asked a question by the presenter, Harsha Bhogle where he asked the one moment he would pick out in his long and illustrious career as a player, coach and commentator.

The former Indian player recalled some of his notable moments during his playing career. He said,” You showed one there in 1985 because there was a final against Pakistan. So it was a special night in Melbourne in 1983 being on that balcony at Lords when India won the World Cup, you know, there is the hundred in the West Indies and a double hundred in Australia”

He also mentioned some of the notable moments during his time in commentary. He recalled,” The World Cup final when MS hit that ball for six and of course, in 2007 when they won the T20 World Cup to back-to-back wins in Australia.”

Shastri after receiving the award gave his answer. He said,” If you ask me one, the icing on the cake was that last day at the Gabba when we went past the finish line with Rishabh Pant taking us home, and I thank my players for that.”

Ravi Shastri was the coach of the Indian side when they managed a historic comeback to win their first Test series on Australian soil. They managed this feat without the likes of Virat Kohli and other senior stars missing out on the matches subsequently due to injuries sustained during the tour.
