'Marais, What do you Think?': Rohit Sharma's Cheeky Banter with Umpire Caught on Stump-mic - WATCH

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was in the mood for some light-hearted banter with the on-field umpire, Marias Erasmus on Day 2 of the second Test between India and England at Hyderabad.

The hosts were well ahead in the Test having dismissed the top half of the English batting order. Jasprit Bumrah was eyeing his third wicket in Jonny Bairstow after cleaning up the in-form Ollie Pope and Joe Root.

The Indian pacer, Bumrah got a lethal yorker to hit the pads and went for the appeal. The umpire, Erasmus had denied it which led to the Indian skipper consulting the wicket-keeper, KS Bharat. In the middle of all this, the time limit for taking the review had passed which meant that the Indian team could not go for the review if they wanted to.

But skipper Rohit Sharma was in a good mood as he went on to have some light-hearted banter with him asking the umpire, “Marais, what do you think?” as he shared a laugh.

The Indian captain will be happy with the performance his side have put on so far on the field. Despite a poor batting show from the Indian batters, it was the young gun, Yashasvi Jaiswal who single-handedly carried the batting unit by scoring his maiden Test double-hundred.

With the ball, it was the ever-present Jasprit Bumrah who continued to shine with the ball in any conditions provided to him. He managed to pick up the three wickets of Ollie Pope, Joe Root and eventually Jonny Bairstow. To partner with him, the wrist-spinner, Kuldeep Yadav, came in place of the injured Ravindra Jadeja to spin webs around the English batters who struggled to pick up his deliveries.

While things may be going well on the field, the skipper will be wary of England’s ability to come back stronger and will aim not to make the same mistakes they did during their loss in the first Test at Visakhapatnam.

India will look to get the win in Hyderabad for the second Test and level the series as they will be aiming to keep their long-standing record of not having lost a Test series at home, intact. But the English side has put up a challenge against the hosts, testing the dominant Indian side.
