IPL 2024: KKR vs RR, GT vs DC Rescheduled
While the BCCI hasn't given any official reason behind the change, CricketNext has learnt that it's because of the KKR-RR at Eden Gardens clashes with Rama Navami festivities.

The BCCI has officially announced it has rescheduled two matches of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League that got underway last month.

According to a BCCI release, the fixture between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals which was originally scheduled to take place on April 17, 2024 at Eden Gardens has been preponed by a day and will now instead be held on  April 16, 2024.

On the other hand, the contest between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals, earlier penciled in to be held on April 16, 2024 at the  Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad has been postponed by a day and will now be played on April 17, 2024.

While BCCI hasn’t officially given any specific reason for the minor rejig, CricketNext has learnt that the authorities in Kolkata were unsure of providing security for the KKR-RR IPL fixture at the Eden Gardens as it clashes with Rama Navami festivities.

“It shouldn’t be a big challenge since there is adequate spacing between fixtures of these teams and there is enough time to make the necessary changes/arrangements at the two venues,” a source close to developments told this publication.

The BCCI announced the IPL 2024 schedule in two phases to ensure it doesn’t clash with the polling dates in the country.

The 17th season of the T20 league got underway on March 22 when defending champions Chennai Super Kings played host to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The final will be played on May 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

RR are the only unbeaten team of the season now having won their first three matches and with six points, are the current leaders of the IPL 2024 points table. KKR are second while title holders CSK are third with four points.

Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians have lost three matches in a row and remain winless. They are languishing at the bottom of the standings.
