It was Delhi Capitals' dominance all through the game against Gujarat Titans as they chased down a meagre total of 90 runs in just 8.5 overs.

It was not too long ago that Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals were struggling to get the bowling unit to click. But in a sudden change of fortunes, they have put up an all-round performance as they came together to run riot at Ahmedabad and dismiss Gujarat Titans for a mere 89 runs in the first innings.

Pant was not too far away from the action. He was active behind the stumps, taking some fine catches and showing off his quick glovework as well. The DC skipper had the toss on his side as he chose to bowl first at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Many might have thought that they might be missing out big time with the loss of David Warner. GT also had the added boost of both Wriddhiman Saha and David Miller returning to the side to bolster the batting order.

But in an unexpected turn of events, it was a dominant bowling performance by DC. It started with Ishant Sharma taking the wicket of Gill in the second over of the powerplay. This was followed by that of Saha where Mukesh Kunar had rattled the middle stump in a show of dominance.

However, the woes only carried on for the Titans as the in-form batter, Sai Sudarshan was dismissed via run-out, a poor call made by the youngster as Sumit Kumar came charging in from the short covers to enforce the run-out.

As for Pant he also had his involvement. This was particularly when he handed over the ball to the part-timer, Tristan Stubbs who first picked up the wicket of Abhinav Manohar. Pant was able to show off his lighting quick glovesmanship to enforce the stumping which even left the batter confused.

Pulling out all the stops, GT utilised their impact sub to bring in Shahrukh Khan into the side and sent him out in the middle. However, his innings was shortlived as Stubbs got one wide on the leg-side but the batter was caught outside the crease and Pant was able to stump out the batter once again.

Despite the cameo from Rashid Khan who continues to be a reliable batter, especially during the dire stages of the innings, he was unable to get the side to a respectable score. His innings came to an end when Mukesh Kumar came in to take up the final two wickets in the 18th over as GT were bundled out for just 89 runs.

With the second innings, it was the young Aussie batting sensation, Jake Fraser-McGurk who came in and struck a maximum off the first delivery of his innings which even left Sourav Ganguly who was at the dugout in shock. He looked to go on the offensive but was caught out at the mid-wicket region for the catch.

The debutant, Sandeep Warrier managed to get the wicket of Prithvi Shaw in the very next over with one sent for a catch at short third-man. But Shai Hope managed to keep going on the offensive with a couple of boundaries coming in for his side. Despite going for runs, Warrier was able to get his second has the impact sub, Abishek Porel was dismissed after scoring 15 in 7 deliveries.

Rashid Khan was on the money as he got the wicket of Shai Hope but the match was well out of their reach. Pant took charge of finishing the game as he struck a couple of boundaries to get the chase done quickly and get some advantage in terms of the net run rate.

The game came to an end by the ninth over as Sumit Kumar sneaked in the winning runs to give DC an emphatic win once again against GT at their home ground in Ahmedabad.
