India will kickstart their Under-19 World Cup triumph with a high-octane clash against neighbours Bangladesh. Led by Yash Dhull, the Indian Colts triumphed over England in the last final to secure their record-extending fifth title. Bangladesh had won the tournament when it was hosted in South Africa last time in 2020. Both Asian sides will look to make the most out of the tournament opener and begin their campaign on a positive note. Bangladesh are entering the World Cup on the back of an Asia Cup triumph.
The encounter between India Under-19s and Bangladesh Under-19s will be held at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein on January 20. India and Bangladesh have been pooled in Group A, where they will face competition from Ireland and the USA. All four teams of every group will play one game against each other. Based on their points, the top three teams will book their tickets to the Super Six round. The 12 qualified teams will once again divided into two groups of six participants. The top two teams of these groups will make their way into the semi-finals.
India Under-19 vs Bangladesh Under-19 Pitch Report:
The Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein is expected to offer a balanced surface, with both batters and bowlers getting equal assistance. Pacers should be used when the ball remains shiny as an older one will make the task easy for the batting unit. The ground has also hosted one of the inaugural matches between Ireland and the USA. Thus, spinners may come in handy on the cracked surface during the game between India and Bangladesh.
