A few weeks after drawing a gruelling Test series in South Africa, Team India is gearing up for another major red-ball assignment, this time on home soil. It will be a five-match Test series against England, who are travelling to India after a gap of nearly three years.

The first match of the highly anticipated series is slated to begin on January 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. India showed tremendous fighting spirit during their tour of South Africa. After they lost the first Test by an innings and 32 runs, Rohit Sharma and Co. came back roaring in the following game to register a resounding seven-wicket victory.
Meanwhile, England’s most recent Test assignment was the 2023 Ashes series against Australia at home. The Ben Stokes-led side made a disastrous start to the five-match series, losing the first two Tests. But they also bounced back by winning the third and fifth Tests.
The last time when England toured India for a four-match Test series in 2021, the hosts secured a comprehensive victory by triumphing on three occasions. India will look to replicate the performance this time to better their position in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) rankings.
