'I Don't Count': Ravindra Jadeja Becomes Fifth Player in IPL History to Claim 100 Catches
Chennai Super Kings allrounder Ravindra Jadeja on Monday claimed the 100th catch of his IPL career.

Ravindra Jadeja had a match to remember as he played a starring role in Chennai Super Kings’ returning to winning ways as they brushed aside the challenge of Kolkata Knight Riders in an IPL 2024 clash at Chepauk on Monday night.

Jadeja was in the thick of action from the very first ball of the match as he took an excellent catch at point to help Tushar Deshpande get rid of KKR opener Phil Salt for a golden duck.

Later, he pushed KKR’s solid recovery off the track with a double-wicket over in which he accounted for both the set batters including Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Sunil Narine. And in his following over, he sent back Venkatesh Iyer on 3 and thus put CSK in control in the space of eight deliveries.

Jadeja wasn’t done though. Late into the KKR innings, he took an easy catch of the visiting skipper Shreyas Iyer which was the 100th catch of his IPL career.

Jadeja thus became the fourth player in the competition’s history to complete a century of catches. He has joined Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Kieron Pollard and Rohit Sharma to do so.

During a mid-innings conversation with the broadcasters when Jadeja was asked of his 100th catch, the star allrounder quipped, “I don’t count my catches”.

For his bowling figures of 3/18 from four overs and two catches, the 35-year-old won player-of-the-match award.

His superlative effort allowed CSK to limit KKR to 137/9 in 20 overs.  The home team comfortably overhauled the target in 17.4 overs to register a seven-wicket win.

“I have always enjoyed my bowling here (Chepauk). I was just looking to bowl in the good areas. I’ve practiced a lot here and if you bowl in good areas, it helps you. It takes time for the visiting teams to settle down and plan something here,” Jadeja said during the post-match presentation.

The defeat was KKR’s first of the season after they began their campaign with three wins in a row.
