Rishabh Pant’s highly anticipated return to Test cricket was one to remember for the 26-year-old wicketkeeper-batter. The star man made his return to the longest format after 637 days, scoring his sixth Test century during the match against Bangladesh that took place in Chennai.
The 26-year-old to remember the day shared a special story on his official Instagram handle where he showed two pictures, one of which included a photo of his recent knock on the field while the other was his previous Test which was also against Bangladesh back in Mirpur in December 2022.
Now Pant will be expected to continue his form for India in their World Test Championship campaign. The side will take on Bangladesh for the final Test of the series in Kanpur, followed by the three-match Test series against New Zealand at home followed by the tour to Australia to defend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The games against New Zealand and Australia could prove to be vital for the two-time finalists as they would also be gunning to take as many wins as possible to help push their chances of going through.
With Team India firmly at the top of the WTC standings, they already have a strong chance of making it to their third consecutive WTC final where they would hope to finally break the streak and claim their maiden title.
Following his performance in Chennai, Pant has once again been picked for the side that will travel to Kanpur for the second Test. He will hope to maintain his stellar performances while also winning the crowd with his cheeky antics on the field as well. In fact, the BCCI had announced prior to the Chennai Test that they would retain the same squad for the coming game as well.
Team India has already taken the series lead 1-0 after the Chennai Test and Bangladesh will look to redeem themselves in the following game that is set to begin on 27 September through to October 1.
