Jasprit Bumrah is not just known for his surreal consistency with the ball across formats but also for his unique bowling action. He hit the headlines for the first time after making his IPL debut and his unorthodox action caught the attention.
Having tasted success with Mumbai Indians in IPL, Bumrah was fast-tracked to the national setup where his meteoric rise continued. Initially, there were doubts over the sustainability of his bowling action with former cricketers predicting he could have fitness issues because of the stress on his body.

Bumrah was troubled by a back issue which kept him on the sidelines for several months and again, there were questions whether the star bowler will be able to bowl with the same intensity that made him a world-class pacer.
Bumrah bounced back in style and played vital roles in India’s unbeaten march into the 2023 ODI World Cup final and last month, produced player-of-the-tournament performance to help India win the T20 World Cup.
Thanks to his success at the international stage, the 30-year-old is inspiring the next generation across the globe.
A video of a Pakistani boy imitating his bowling action is going viral on social media and it has caught the attention of legendary Wasim Akram.
“Wah jee wah, look at that control and action exactly like the great @Jaspritbumrah93. Video of the day for me. #crickethavenoboundaries,” Akram wrote while sharing the clip.

Bumrah is in the midst of a much-deserved break having played non-stop cricket since returning from a long-term injury layoff last August.
Earlier this month, India batting star Virat Kohli lavished praise on Bumrah for his performance in the final of the T20 World Cup. South Africa needed 30 off 30 at one stage but Bumrah-led pacers led a terrific comeback to help India register a thrilling win.
“At one time I also felt that ‘man is it going to slip away again’,” Kohli said during a felicitation ceremony organised by BCCI at the Wankhede Stadium. “But what happened in those five overs, two of which were bowled by Jasprit Bumrah was truly, truly special. What I would like everyone is to applaud a guy who brought us back into games, again and again in this tournament,” said Kohli.
“We want him to continue playing for India as long as he can. I’ll sign the petition for Jasprit Bumrah to be the eighth wonder of the world right now. He is a once-in-a-generation bowler,” he added.
