Former Pakistan captain Younus Khan has taken an indirect jibe at Test captain Shan Masood after a horrendous drubbing at the hands of England in the Multan Test. Pakistan became the first team to lose a Test match by an innings despite scoring more than 500 runs in the first innings.
In reply to Pakistan’s first-innings score of 556, England piled up 823 runs and then thrashed the hosts by an innings and 47 runs. The defeat at Multan stretched Pakistan’s run without a Test win at home to a worrisome 1350 days. It has also left the country’s former cricketers fuming.
Younis Khan, while speaking at an event in Pakistan, lashed out at Shan Masood without taking his name. The former captain also asked the Pakistan Cricket Board to take some string measures before the situation worsened.
“There are no qualities to lead a team in an individual, neither he is a leader material… still he has been given the responsibilities,” Khan took an indirect jibe at Shan Masood.
“Just because the people feel that ye hmari sunta hai, achha padha likha hai, ye English, Urdu, Pashto achhi bolta hai to isko kaptaan bana do (He may not be a good player but if he listens to us, and speaks good English, Urdu and Pashto… so let’s make him the captain). Please, get rid of this thinking,” he added.

Babar Azam Likely to be Dropped for 2nd Test
According to ESPN Cricinfo, the Pakistan team management is likely to drop Babar Azam for the second Test against England. It has been recommended by the newly formed selection committee, which met in Lahore within hours of the loss in the first Test on Friday.
“It is understood the selection panel collectively felt Babar would benefit from time away from the national side as runs remain elusive.”
As per the available information, the new selection panel includes Aaqib Javed, Asad Shafiq, Azhar Ali, former ICC umpire Aleem Dar, analyst Hassan Cheema, and the captain and head coach of the format for which the squad is being selected.
The selectors met with Shan Masood and Jason Gillespie on Saturday, and it has been reported that some of the mentors were in favour of keeping Babar, but the majority were in favour of the dropping.
