Avesh is playing for India A in the Duleep Trophy 2024 match against India B at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Star Indian pacer Avesh Khan is playing for Shubman Gill-led India A team in the Duleep Trophy 2024 match against India B at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru these days. The 27-year-old right-pacer picked up two wickets for 59 runs in the first inning and has dismissed one batter so far in the second inning. The star fast bowler, who has featured in 8 ODIs and 23 T20Is for Men in Blue so far, was teased by fans with RCB chants during the ongoing match.

In a video going viral on the internet, fans can be seen chanting RCB-RCB when Avesh was fielding near the boundary ropes. The Indore-based cricketer, whose last appearance for India was against Zimbabwe in Harare on July 10, 2024, reacted to the fan’s reception and made a hand gesture to fans in which he can be seen asking them to continue their chants aimed at him.

Here’s the video:

Avesh, who was one of the four reserve players that travelled with the Indian team to the West Indies and USA in June for the T20 World Cup 2024, is in line to get picked in the Indian Test team for the upcoming two-match series against Bangladesh. According to various reports, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be rested for the two Tests at home later this month, so in his absence, BCCI selectors are looking at pacers who can partner Mohammed Siraj with the new ball.

Test series starts on September 19

The two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh is scheduled to start on September 19. The series opener will take place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, and Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium will host the second red-ball match from September 27 onwards. After the two Tests, India will face Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series and then again shift back its attention to Test cricket and face New Zealand in a three-match series.

The three red-ball matches between India and New Zealand are set to be played in Bengaluru (October 16-20), Pune (October 24-28), and Mumbai (November 1-5).
