The man standing on the right is the legendary Tamil director Manivannan. The picture shows him and Bharathiraja all-smiles, standing in front of a camera. As per the reports, the picture was taken on a shooting spot, which is now going viral on social media among the fans.
Manivannan was an actor, filmmaker, and activist who mostly worked in the Tamil Cinema. He was born on July 31, 1954, in Sulur, Coimbatore. In 1979, he became a part of the director Bharathiraja’s camp, where he became the director’s apprentice. Between 1980 and 1982, Manivannan wrote dialogues and stories for Bharathiraja’s films like Nizhalgal, Tick Tick Tick, Alaigal Oivathillai and Kaadhal Oviyam. In 1982, he made his debut as a director in the film Gopurangal Saivathillai. P Kalaimani has produced the film, and the cast includes Mohan, Suhasini and Radha.
He has acted in more than 400 films and has directed exactly 50 films. He has worked with actors like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Sivaji Ganesan, Vijay, Ajith Kumar, Surya, and many others.
He focused on his acting career in the late 90s and the early 2000s. It is reported that in January 1998, six of his films were released on the same day. His last and 50th film as a director was Nagaraja Cholan MA, MLA, it was released in 2013 and is a sequel to Amaidhi Padai. Actor Sathyaraj was his closest friend, with whom he has worked in 25 films.
He passed away shortly after the release of Nagaraja Cholan MA, MLA, on June 15, 2013, because of a cardiac arrest, at his home in Chennai. He was 58 years old. As per his wishes, the flag of Tamil Eelam was wrapped around his body.
