New Delhi: The markets opened on a positive note on Thursday morning. They trade with significant gains through the day and even ended strong.
Sensex closed at 14,355.55, a gain of 345.65 points. This is the biggest single-day gain in terms of points for the Sensex in a little over a month.
There was buying interest all across the sectors led by capital good, consumer durable, banking and metal stocks.
AUTO Index closed up 156.54 points or 2.86 per cent at 5,635.89. Exide Industries, Cummins, Mah and Mah, Escorts, Ashok Leyland, Maruti Udyog
BANKEX ended up 205.83 points or 2.95 per cent at 7,182.71. Bank of India, UTI Bank, ICICI Bank, Union Bank, Canara Bank were amon the gainers.
Capital Goods surged 301.13 points or 3.22 per cent to 9,639.90. BEML, Bharat Elec, Gammon India, L&T, Crompton Greave and Siemens were among the gainers.
FMCG index gained 23.92 points or 1.28 per cent and ended at 1892.73. Dabur India, United Spirits, HLL, Shaw Wallace, Nestle ended in green
Pharma index ended up 69.50 points or 1.86 per cent at 3,803.39.
Glenmark, Biocon, Cipla, Nicholas Pirama, Apollo Hospital, Lupin closed higher.
IT closed up 203 points or 3.79 per cent at 5,565.70. Moser Baer, Satyam, Wipro, Infosys, Mphasis HCL Info were up.
METAL ended up 258.25 points or 3per cent at 8,876.23. Hind Zinc, SAIL, Jindal Saw, Sterlite Ind, NALCO, JSW Steel jumped up.
OIL&GAS index was up 108.8 points or 1.65per cent at 6,705.34. MRPL, Reliance Natural, Reliance, BPCL, Petronet LNG surged.
