According to sources they will start charging passengers from August 22.

Those flying international have already been paying Rs 1,000 extra for using the airport.

The UDF, under the draft, has been calculated as the fee to be levied at the airports on departing passengers to enable the airport operating company bridge the gap between expenditure and revenue.

Airports in Delhi, Mumbai and other cities could follow soon. The government has come out with draft guidelines for charging user fees.

Under the draft guidelines, the project cost as well as expenditure on capital employed, depreciation, operation, maintenance, cost of debt and taxes are to be considered to determine the level of UDF to be charged from passengers.

To estimate the admissible revenue of the company, the sum of the total aeronautical revenue and a portion of non-aeronautical revenue is to be considered.
