Budget allocates over Rs 211 cr for training babus
As per the proposals, a total of Rs 211.56 crore has been granted to meet establishment-related expenditure of ISTM and LBSNAA.

New Delhi: The government on Friday earmarked about Rs 212 crore to the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions for augmenting its training facilities and setting up of a National Centre for Good Governance among others in the Union Budget.

According to the budgetary proposals presented by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in Lok Sabha, a total of Rs 211.56 crore has been granted to meet establishment-related expenditure of Institute of Secretariat Training & Management (ISTM) and Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration

(LBSNAA) in Mussoorie.

This allocation is Rs 60.20 crore more than the revised amount of Rs 151.36 crore for the current fiscal. Both the ISTM and LBSNAA arrange several training programmes including foundation courses, refresher courses, mid-career training, etc so as to equip all levels/grades of Secretarial functionaries with adequate exposure to the latest rules and regulations and aptitude among others.

"This (grant) also includes provision for grants to Indian Institute of Public Administration and other training Institutions; provision for Training schemes like Training for all, Domestic Funding for Foreign Training, up-gradation of LBSNAA to a Centre of Excellence, setting up of National Centre for Good Governance, augmentation of Training Facilities at ISTM," as per the notes on Demand of Grants by the government.

Besides, Rs 294.06 crore has been earmarked for Secretariat General Services, Administration of Justice (expenditure for Central Administrative Tribunals) and Staff Selection Commission. The government had allotted Rs 279.40 crore for the same last year.
