On February 14, 2024, banks in Agartala, Bhubaneswar, and Kolkata will be closed due to Basant Panchami/Saraswati Puja. However, it’s not officially recognized as a gazetted holiday. In Imphal, banks will remain closed on February 15th. This month includes a total of 11 holidays, counting Saturdays and Sundays. Typically, banks are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.
Those with urgent banking needs should take note of the designated holiday dates. Bank customers must understand that while physical branches will be shut on these upcoming holidays, digital services like mobile banking, UPI, and Internet banking will continue to operate without any interruptions.
Notably, the holiday observance differs across the nation, with some days marked as public holidays nationwide while others are specific to certain regions.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) determines bank holidays, considering factors such as national/state holidays, cultural or religious events, operational necessities, government directives, and coordination with other banks. The RBI communicates its holiday schedule through official channels like its website and notifications to banks and financial institutions.
