South actor Karthi, known for his movies like Kaithi and Ponniyin Selvan, is currently busy with his upcoming movie titled Japan. The movie will mark a milestone for him in the industry as it will be his 25th project. To celebrate this, the kind-hearted actor, known for his charitable nature, decided to donate Rs 1 crore to the needy. The Theeran Adhigaram Ondru actor chose to donate a lump sum amount, out of which Rs 25 lakh will be given to social activists, government schools, and hospitals and to feed the underprivileged.
It is not the first time that Karthi has made such a generous contribution. He has been associated with several charities and social service activities for a long time. To promote such welfare activities, he inaugurated the Makkal Nala Mandram on his 31st birthday. Karthi is known for donating bicycles to handicapped people, sewing machines to women and backpacks to children. He has also contributed during COVID-19 to the Chief Minister Relief Fund and donated for the Uttarakhand floods in 2013.
Karthi is gearing up for the release of his movie Japan, which has already increased the excitement amongst his fans. To create more buzz, a grand audio launch was hosted in Chennai on October 28. The extravagant event was graced by stars like Suriya, Lokesh Kanagaraj, Vishal, Jayam Ravi, Arya, and Tamannaah Bhatia.
Japan is helmed by Raju Murugan and has an interesting ensemble cast featuring Karthi, Anu Emmanuel, Jithan Ramesh, KS Ravikumar, Sunil, Vijay Milton, Vagai Chandrasekhar and Bava Chelladurai. As per reports, the star will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar. The plot of the movie revolves around a notorious thief who steals Rs 200 crore worth of jewels from a jewellery shop. What follows is a cat-and-mouse chase between him and the police that will leave the audience thrilled. The movie is slated for a Diwali release and will hit the silver screens on November 10.
