In the Choppadandi town of Karimnagar district of Telangana, lives a man named Vadluri Durgaiah, who is a famous auto driver. The reason for his popularity is not his driving skills, but his kind service for the betterment of the roads in town. Apart from driving an auto, Vadluri fills the potholes on the Choppadandi road by investing his hard-earned income. Vadluri Durgaiah does not spend money on luxuries. Instead, he is helping society with his little income. He has been doing this for 15 years now. While talking to Local18, Vadluri said that this is the main road, which leads to Dharmapuri Kshetra; therefore, it is a recipient of huge traffic. Due to rainwater stagnation and land subsidence, there are potholes on the road. Vadluri Durgaiah covers them from time to time with soil. He also does this to avoid major road accidents.
Vadluri has been doing this work without anyone’s help or any organisation’s cooperation. Vadluri Durgaiah also helps in the cremation of the underprivileged. In funerals, firewood and other materials are required. He helps the deceased’s families by transporting them from markets to the cremation ground, free of cost.
Apart from this, most of the time people ignore the dead bodies of dogs and pigs on the road, which leads to bad stench in the area. Vadluri Durgaiah reaches such locations and moves them in his auto. In this way, he has been serving as a role model for everyone in the town. He has been doing such services with the help of his auto and meagre income. While talking to Local18, he also shared his concerns about his auto. Vadluri Durgaiah says if his auto stops running, then he won’t be able to carry out the services which he has been doing for 15 years.
