Are you planning to go on the Pune-Mumbai expressway Today? Then we could advise you to drop the idea as overhead gantries work will obstruct the corridor or might cause massive traffic between 12 pm and 2 pm.
Gantry Installation Work on Pune-Mumbai Expressway
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has already confirmed the news. Even an official from the authorities says that the Pune-bound lane of the expressway will not be operated between the time mentioned above near Amrutanjan Bridge and the Khandala tunnel as gantry installation work will be taking place on the expressway.
Here’s What Official Says About Reopening of Expressway
An official from the MSRDCs also informed that the sole purpose of choosing this particular time slot is because it shows less traffic compared to any other time. He also revealed that the expressway will be reopened for regular traffic once the work is finished.
Reacting about the same, the superintendent of police for Highway Safety Patrol in Pune, Lata Phad said, “MSRDC officials are in a move to install gantry for ITMS (intelligent traffic management system) in the Bor Ghat section of the Pune-Mumbai Expressway, and in order to make the work easy, the vehicular movement has been given a pause for two hours only.”
Alternate Route
Lata said to make it easy for all the light motor vehicles such as mid-size SUVs and small cars and provide an alternate route, all the vehicles will be diverted to the old Pune-Mumbai highway from Somatne Phata. While heavy vehicles such as buses and trucks will remain stopped until the work is done, Lata added.
