Jagdish Khattar resigns as Managing Director of Maruti
After serving his second term in office, he was offered a third term as well but declined.

New Delhi: After spending 14 years at the helm of auto giant Maruti, Jagdish Khattar will spend his last day in office on Tuesday.

He will make way for Shinzo Nakanishi, who is currently the chairman of Maruti Suzuki India. While, RC Bhargava will take over as chairman of the company.

Khattar, a former bureaucrat, joined Maruti in July 1993 as director (marketing) and went on to become the Managing Director in 1999. After serving his second term in office, he was offered a third term as well but declined.

He has also been conferred a Doctorate (Honorary) by the London Metropolitan University, United Kingdom.

The degree recognised Mr Khattar’s contribution to the Indian Automobile industry and his popularity as a visionary leader of a successful organization.
