With the construction of the metro corridor between Subhash Nagar and AIIMS in Bhopal going on in full swing, the authorities recently conducted a successful trail run.
It has been found that the corridor between these two stations is 6.2 km long. As the development is happening at a rapid pace, it is expected that the route will be functional in the coming months.
According to India.com, the Metro Rail Corporation of Madhya Pradesh has decided that the stations on these corridors will be similar to airports and will have all the major facilities, including food plazas, shops and other amenities. Earlier, the Indore metro station was also built on similar lines with airport-like amenities.
In terms of the current work status of the metro, the priority corridor, which includes Subhash Nagar to AIIMS, RKMP, Subhash Nagar and Kendriya School, in front of DB Mall and MP Nagar, is 90 per cent complete. On the other hand, stations like DRM Chauraha, AIIMS and Alkapuri are almost 60 per cent complete.
The metro rail authorities have been making these stations in a very large area. As these stations will have a lot of facilities like shops, food plazas, ATMs and more, the authorities are expecting to generate a lot of revenue.
The metro authorities are also expected to start their work on the second phase of the metro in the months of June and July. It has been found that a total of Rs 1,540 crore will be spent on laying the 8.77 km line between Subhash Nagar and Karond. On this route, 3.39 km will be underground.
Two metro stations, Bhopal Railway Station and Nadra Bus Stand, will be made underground. The tunnels will connect Bhopal station and Nadra bus stand-through stations via Sindhi Colony and Aishbagh Crossing. While six stations, including Pul Bogda, Aishbagh, Sindhi Colony, DIG Bungalow, Krishi Upaj Mandi, and Karond, will be elevated and constructed above the ground, The whole Orange Line of Metro, i.e., the route from AIIMS to Karond, is 14.99 km long.
So far, five metros have arrived in Bhopal from Vadodara, Gujarat. As many as 15 coaches were also brought in six big trolleys to the city.
