IND vs ENG: England Cricket Shares Video of Ollie Pope Recreating Paul Collingwood’s Splendid Catch
The visitors won the first Test in Chennai by 227 runs, while the hosts reciprocated with a massive 317 run margin at the same venue in the second Test.

Former England skipper and current fielding coach Paul Collingwood got creative with his catching drills in India because that is how he rolls. The 44-year old, who had led his home side to the T20 World Cup title in 2010, was a prolific fielder himself in his playing years.

In a recent video shared by English Cricket on their official Twitter handle,Collingwood can be seenputting his ward Ollie Pope to pacein a fielding drill. However, during the course of practice, Pope takes a sensational catch which is reminiscent of Collingwood’s famous catch to get rid of Australia’s Mathew Hayden in 2005.

The 40-second video starts with Collingwood hitting the ball towards Pope, who takes a one-handed dive catch. Few unseen players can be heard appreciating the catch and make a reference to the former all-rounder’s superb catch years ago. Further in the video, we can see Pope walking towards the legendary player where they bump fists in a thanking fashion.

The video then jumps to Collingwood’s amazing one-handed stunner during an ODI against Australia during the tri-nation NatWest Series in 2005. The video shows Hayden playing an uppercut over point off the bowling of Steven Harmison. The ball seemed to be flying towards the boundary until Collingwood leapt through the air and bent his body backwards to complete the stunning catch. Eventually, England won the match chasing 252 runs, but Collingwood’s catch stood out and is still remembered as one of the best till date in the limited overs format.

The video then cuts back to the present where the fielding coach points at Pope forearm, he suffered a slight bruise. Pope could be jokingly heard saying, ‘blood, sweat, tears’ and the duo can be seen walking away.

The video has been viewed over 36,000 times, raked in thousands of ‘likes’ since going online and even garnered several interesting reactions from netizens.

Calling Pope’s a ‘blinding catch’, one userpoked fun at Collingwood, saying his ‘wasn’t too bad either’.

Another user involved Premier League club Everton’s goal keeper Jordan Pickford and wrote that his job’s in danger.

Terming the catches as ‘top stuff,’ Official broadcaster Star Sports India further wrote that they haven’t ‘picked their jaws off the floor’ yet.

Meanwhile, India and England are toiling away in the nets ahead of the third Test match, which will be a day-night affair in Ahmedabad, starting on February 24. The visitors won the first Test in Chennai by 227 runs, while the hosts reciprocated with a massive 317 run margin at the same venue in the second Test. The four-match Test series currently stands at 1-1.
