Eating Crunchy Food May Help In Losing Weight: Study
The experiment showed that by consuming crunchy food, the stomach will be full early and fewer calories will be taken.

Many people are suffering from the problem of obesity in today’s world. Some of the common reasons for obesity include unhealthy lifestyle, stress, hormonal imbalances, and excessive consumption of junk food. This has become a growing concern. Obesity further leads to the development of many harmful diseases like diabetes, kidney failure, cardiovascular and liver-related illnesses. People are putting in a lot of efforts to fight obesity using a wide range of processes. A new study has proved that consuming crunchy food can help in losing weight.

In this study, the participants were given four types of meal at lunch. The study revealed that the harder the texture of the food served at lunch, the more time it takes to chew it. This didn’t depend on how much the food was processed. The four lunches varied in the degree of their hardness. For the harder meal, boiled rice and crunchy salad were given, while for the less hard food, chicken was given. Among the other hard items, apples were given, while among the less hard items, soft mangoes were given. After that, the group of participants was asked to eat them. Later, the study found that people who were given harder food got 300 calories less energy than others. The experiment showed that by consuming harder and crunchier food, the stomach will be full early and fewer calories will be taken.

The study says that when we chew something that is hard to eat, we tend to chew at a slower pace because it is difficult to eat harder food. Due to this, we start feeling full very quickly. According to studies, we eat five times less than usual food when we eat crunchier and harder food items. This simply means that when we chew something more, it will take time, and less food will go into the stomach, which will make the stomach feel fuller.

It is important to note that there is no short-cut way to lose weight. This can only be done by adopting practices like eating healthy food, regular exercise, and adequate sleep.
